Everyday our frequency inverters prove their high level of cost-effectiveness, reliability, functionality and flexibility in commercial to heavy-industrial applications.
Frequency inverter drives are a key component of Mitsubishi Electric's factory automation systems. More than 30 years on and with over 14 million units sold worldwide, Mitsubishi Electric is still continually contributing innovations to variable-speed drive technology. The latest 64-bit RISC processors, advanced software models and the latest power electronics make today's variable-speed drive solutions from Mitsubishi Electric both powerful and easy to use. Mitsubishi Electric delivers innovative, open, flexible and reliable drive solutions geared to the special needs of individual markets and customers.
Mitsubishi frequency inverters satisfy all the standards and specifications of the European Union's 2006/95/EC directive on low-voltage equipment and the 2006/42/EG machinery directive. All products have a CE certificate subject to 89/336/EEC, and also UL, cUL and DNV certificates and the certification for the Russian market. All important protective functions are included as standard equipment, and all Mitsubishi frequency inverters conform to both the ISO 9001 quality standard and the ISO 14001 environment standard.
Mitsubishi inverters are real energy savers achieving maximum drive capacity utilisation with minimum power consumption. Flux optimisation ensures that the connected motor only gets exactly the amount of magnetic flux required for optimum efficiency. This is particularly important at low speeds as motors are normally using a voltage/frequency control system. SLV Vector Control with Online Auto tuning and automatic slip compensation, V/f control with a fully-programmable characteristic and Mitsubishi Electric's advanced OEC (Optimium Excitation Control) technology all help to make these frequency inverters masters of energy conservation. They can achieve maximum power savings of up to 60% compared to conventional mains operation, thus minimising system operating costs.
The FR-A741’s regenerative braking system makes it much more efficient than conventional drive systems, giving it the potential for significant energy savings. They are particularly well suited for tasks involving frequent cyclical acceleration and deceleration and in all applications where braking resistors are normally used. The combination of the integrated AC reactor and no need for an external braking unit eliminate a large amount of additional wiring. These inverters need up to 60 % less main circuit wiring and occupy up to 40 % less space than conventional solutions, depending on the output capacity.
The FR-F740 frequency inverter drives from Mitsubishi Electric are designed for the special needs of pumps and fans. These inverters can significantly enhance the energy balance of pump and fan applications - particularly in the low-speed range and in low-load operation, where energy savings of up to 60% can be achieved. Additional savings are made possible by Mitsubishi Electric's innovative OEC (Optimum Excitation Control) technology. This system ensures that the optimum magnetic flux is always applied to the motor, thus reducing losses. The result is maximum utilisation of motor capacity at maximum efficiency.
All frequency inverters feature simple operation and configuration and optimised control and data management facilities. The integrated control terminals, the one-touch digital dial and the multi-language control panel with copy function provide instantly-comprehensible information on current drive status and clear error message displays.
Networked systems are very easy to configure thanks to support for standard open network bus systems including Profibus/DP, DeviceNet, CC-Link, CANopen and LonWorks. Serial RS-422 and RS-485 interfaces and the optional USB port enable multidrop applications with up to 32 stations and connection of the latest PC and process visualisation systems.
When it comes to reliability drive technology from Mitsubishi Electric has an enviable reputation. The latest customer satisfaction survey conducted by IMS Research confirms that the Mitsubishi Electric drives are among the best in their class in terms of product reliability.

The FR-F800-E offers an integrated web server and 100Mbit Ethernet TCP/IP connectivity as standard. In addition to existing network options, the FR-F800-E also provides increased capabilities regarding remote system monitoring and parameter adjustment, as well as easy integration into existing network environments.
This compact frequency inverter offers exceptional performance and is ideal for hoist drives and high-powered machines where the torque can be used for regenerative braking.
The FR-A770 inverter is the first choice for operation under rough environmental conditions. It was designed for industrial networks with 690 V power supply.
With 11 million frequency inverter drives already sold, Mitsubishi Electric now introduces its latest generation of compact inverters, the FR-E700 series. In addition to better features and performance than their predecessors, the models in the series are also more compact and even easier to install.
Improvements include an integrated USB port, an integrated one-touch Digital Dial control with a display, improved power usage at low speeds and an expansion slot compatible with the many option cards from the 700 series. All this makes the FR-E700 an economical and highly-versatile solution for a wide range of applications from textiles machines to door and gate drive systems to material handling systems.
The "Safe Torque Off" function (STO) disconnects the power fromthe motor and prevents an unexpected re-start. Thereupon the motor coasts to a halt. Compared to the traditional technology with contactors, this integrated Safety function reduces the effort in hardware, wiring and maintenance and offers higher performance and lifetime.
Long lifetime – Frequency inverter drives from Mitsubishi Electric are famous for their reliability and longevity. The FR-E700 is designed for a service life of over 10 years. Among other things, this is made possible by high-performance heat-resistant capacitors, cooling fans with sealed bearings and special lubricating greases. The flows of cooling air only come into contact with the heat sinks, not with the electronic components, ensuring that no dust or dirt can collect on the components.
The circuit boards are very well protected against aggressive environments with single or double coatings of varnish – another feature that ensures a longer service life.
Fast servicing – The fans are designed as compact units that can be replaced in less than 10 seconds for cleaning or in the event of failure. Even replacing the entire inverter is a quick and simple operation – there is no wiring work at all because the terminal block is removable.
Compact installation – The installation footprint is the same as that of the predecessor models but the FR-E700 units can now be installed directly next to one another. Heat dissipation has been optimised by designing the heat sinks so that they can now be installed outside the switchgear cabinet.
Flexible connection and expansion – FR-E700 inverters can be connected to RTU Modbus and network systems like Profibus/DP, CC-Link, DeviceNet and LonWorks.

Simple and safe operability, compact design as well as improved performance features were the focus during the development of the FR-D700 frequency inverter. A drive was created that set standards in the field of compact drives.
Improved functions and device properties such as simplified cabling thanks to spring clamps, the integrated Digital Dial with LED display, improved performance yield in the low-speed range as well as the integrated emergency stop function make the FR-D700 the standard in the ultra compact class.
The FR-D700 is especially advantageous for standard applications by virtue of its user- friendliness. It is the correct choice in both simple and more sophisticated applications. Typical applications are feeder and conveyor drives, machining tools or gate and door drives.
This inverter actively monitors its own functional safety. If, for example, the fan rpm decreases to 50 %, a pre-alarm is triggered. An internal measuring program monitors the ageing of the capacitors and an operating hours counter enables the operator to plan the best time for servicing. Protection and overload functions like the phase failure monitoring system for both the input and output circuits ensure trouble-free operation.
The FR-D700’s OEC function helps to further optimize current and hence power consumption of the motor. The result is an additional decrease in energy requirement compared to a conventional inverter.
The FR-D700 is designed for a service life of over 10 years.
